Changing perceptions.

December 6, 2010 at 2:02 am (The Mental Health Field.)

The reason why I chose to post this video was because although it is NOT directly related to MRKH, it does show that individuals have the power to create social change in different ways. For now, our condition is on the cusp of being regarded a certain way. With regards to the heated intersex debate, stigma played into the views some of us expressed. Specifically, the implications of what it is to be intersex. Maybe one day, we too can change the way people perceive our condition. This all relates to the gender issue, however mildly we connected we are to it.

This clip was brought to my attention by a very good friend of mine. I saw it as extremely powerful/valuable and I hope you see it that way too. It was created by Laura Burke, who continues to struggle with schizophrenia. She advocates for people living with mental illness via drama therapy. Enjoy!
