“Sigmoid Vaginoplasty: Long-Term Results” -> (My interest: a cross cultural look at this issue)

March 16, 2010 at 4:10 pm (Cross Cultural Perspective of MRKH., Surgery.)

Although this article reports the long term effects of surgery. I was also interested in the cross-cultural perspective of MRKH. Specifically, how women who are born with conditions that mean that they cannot carry a child and require medical intervention in order to engage in penile-vaginal intercourse are regarded. Since this article investigates the developing countries, it is interesting to see how patients are counselled in more traditional cultures. In particular,  focus on the last paragraph of the “Materials and Methods” section on page 1213.

Note: I’ve now added this article to the “Cross Cultural Perspective of MRKH” category for this reason!
